Welding Procedures were prepared In-House with assistance from Welding Testing Laboratory of Baton Rouge. The Procedures, Procedure Qualifications, and Welder Qualifications are as described in the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section IX, Process Piping B31.3 and Refrigeration Piping B31.5.


Republic has nine (9) active Welding Procedures using both Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAC) and a combination of the two processes. These Procedures are for GTAW root and cover passes, SMAC root and cover passes, GTAW root and SMAC cover passes for carbon steel to carbon steel, stainless steel to stainless steel, and carbon steel to stainless steel. Each Procedure has been qualified and recorded in accordance with ASME, “QW - 483”.


All pipe welders are tested and after passing, Welder’s Qualification Records, ASME form “QW - 484’s” are completed and are on file at the company headquarters and available at job sites.


In addition, Republic maintains a Manual for Shop and Field Operations which is a guide for the facets of fabrication of piping and piping components for use by superintendents. This too is available at the headquarters and job sites.
