Republic Refrigeration’s Safety Program starts on the job sites with weekly “Tool Box” meetings, Job Superintendents and our Project Managers are responsible for the content of the meetings and safety on the site. All Superintendents and Project Managers have competed OSHA thirty hour courses. The thirty hour course is conducted every four years. In other years we have annual ten hour OSHA training. In addition we conduct Ammonia Awareness at our Annual Meetings.
For our thirty hour course we engage an outside Professional Safety Instructor. For other Annual Meetings we use our engineers, insurance company specialists, selected vendors, and North Carolina OSHA for instructors. In addition we have had instructors from the Charlotte Fire Department.
Classes are conducted in Charlotte, North Carolina and are attended by Forty to Fifty of our employees, the classes last from three to four days.
Project Managers are responsible for insuring that the Superintendents and Shop Managers are providing appropriate training to their personnel. They prepare their own lesson plans from information obtained at the Annual Meetings and literature supplied to them during the year.
Republic’s drug program requires 100% pre-hire testing and monthly random testing of 10% of the employees. We also perform drug testing on suspicion. Employees are given drug awareness and safety training immediately after hiring.
